Dana's Thoughts

my blog about everyday stuff, stuff that happens, stuff that bugs me, stuff I'm doing...all kinds of stuff.

Feb 27, 2005

oh sleep.

I am so tired. So, here's a quick run down of the weekend.

Friday we went to a trivia night fundraiser and our table came in like 8th place. Yeah, we sucked. But damn. There was beer involved. And Malibu, and the Capt'n. We couldn't help it.

Saturday went went to a surprise birthday party and it was pretty fun. The theme was a "Fiesta!". We saw Cassie & Jeff, who we hadn't seen since like...Fred's wedding almost 2 years ago (I think.) So, it was fun.

Today I took Carol & John to the airport, went to the gym, then came home, did some laundry, took a nap, and stayed in bed the rest of the day. Chris was in bed all day today because he plans on going back to work tomorrow. EVEN THOUGH HE JUST HAD SURGERY ON THURSDAY. He's so stubborn.

Tomorrow begins another week. Oh joy. Nothing big this week. Oh wait..yes. On Tuesday I find out if I'm getting a raise. Cross your fingers and say a prayer for me! I need a raise. Everyone needs a raise, really. So, I'll find out on Tuesday. Other than that, nothing else for the rest of the week. This coming weekend we're going to visit my Mom, which will be cool because I haven't seen her since the horrible New Years saga. Then, next Sunday, we've gotta pick Carol & John back up from the airport.

Vacation countdown stands at 2 months, 20 days, 1 hour, 29 minutes and 33 seconds. Or, roughly, 83 days. I hope they go by quickly. I keep dreaming about being on Orient Beach, lying on a beach blanket, drinking a cold beverage and listening to my iPod. Oh sweet vacation!

Hope everyone had a good week. I'll try and post more this week.

Feb 24, 2005

My poor baby.

Chris had surgery today. He had part of his meniscus removed. He pulled through like a little trooper and he's home. He says he's not feeling much pain right now, so I hope tomorrow morning he doesn't wake up in extreme pain!

I was at the hospital all day. In the waiting room, there were these 2 huge women sitting near me. Every time they got up, I had to hold my breath because the smell was so bad. I almost puked once. It was so nasty and I was so glad when they left.

I made a cake tonight. It's a peanut butter yellow cake, with peanut butter icing and chopped Reese's Peanut Butter Cups sprinkled between the layers and on top. Then, I drizzled it with peanut butter. If you like peanut butter, you'd love this. If you're allergic to peanuts, you'd probably die.

Tomorrow I have to take Chris back to the doctor and then, drop my car off for service. It's time for the 60,000 mile service. Did I mention it's going to be around $500?!? WTF, chuck? That's too much money. I think it should only be $40. That would be fair. I think anyway.

Well, that's it. Tomorrow night we're going to a trivia night to benefit a friend of mine's girlfriend's dad. (Did you get that?) He has cancer and they're raising money for his medical costs. It should be fun. $15 for all the beer you can drink, trivia, and chips/pretzels/nuts. That's okay with me! Saturday we're going to a surprise party, and Sunday we're taking Chris's 'rents to the airport for their Cancun trip.

Busy weekend, I'm tired already. I'm going to finish watching The Apprentice, then go to bed. Night!

Feb 22, 2005

It's Monday, but it's not...

Tomorrow is my Friday...sort of. Chris is having surgery on Thursday, so I have all day off. Then, I'm off for a half day on Friday, so that won't be so bad, as far as work goes. Although, I have a ton of stuff I need to get done before Friday. Oh well!

This shirt I'm wearing is making me sweat. I need to change shirts before I turn into a puddle of salt and liquid something or other.

I really hate it when I can't find people's email addresses. So I'll just say this here, in the hopes that she reads this. I'm really sorry for what you are going through right now. I'm not sure what comments people have been making to you, but my best piece of advice is to ignore them. I'm sure the baby will be fine, and you'll be fine. If not, you have a support spouse, and great friends, and you'll get through it. I'm thinking positive thoughts for you and you need to think positive thoughts too. So, I hope you feel better (emotionally) soon.

Mmk...moving on. I went to Wendy's tonight and got some chili. The guy working the drive-thru window was talking on a cordless phone while he was waiting on me. He was all laughing and "dudeing" whoever he was talking to, and in the process, did not give me back my change. It really annoyed me. I'm not exactly sure why it annoyed me so much, but it did because an hour later, I'm still thinking about it. I've never worked fast food, so I'm not really sure how hard of a job it is (though I'm convinced it can't be any harder than waitressing). Anyway, I would think the hardest job would be working the drive-thru window. Why would you be talking to your buddy on the phone, at 6pm with like 5 cars backed up at your window? Somehow, I just don't understand that. I know it shouldn't bother me, but it does.

I got some new Philly Swirl popsicles at Sam's yesterday. They're really yummy and you should try them. There are 4 different flavors, but so far, I've only had the cotton candy one. They're only 10 calories per bar. Sugar free, dairy free, gluten free, and peanut free. They're sweetened with Splenda and amazingly, they don't have that weird sugar-free after taste. Apparently they're going to be selling them at Sam's for like 3 months, and see how they sell. So, go buy a box, because I like them and I'd hate it if Sam's quit selling them.

All that talk of popsicles has made me want a popsicle. Damn my writing.

There's 88 days to go until vacation! I'm so excited! Wheeee! Did I already tell my faithful blog community that I got some new glasses? I don't remember if I did or not...but as soon as they come in, I will post a picture.

That's it for me. I'm tired of typing and I want to watch TV. Speaking of which...there's a guy who works at my company who doesn't own a TV. WTF is up with that? I mean, I totally respect people who don't watch TV, but you have to own a TV...I mean, what about CNN? or XBox, or DVD players. Am I the weird one here?

Be safe kids.

Feb 20, 2005

Yay! Shoes, my favorite!

I just ordered these, in lemonade. I also ordered these, in rose pink.

What the...

What does he think he is going to do to me? Doesn't he know I have eyes in the back of my hat?

Feb 19, 2005

One Night in February

Speaking of February...I hate how it's spelled. If I were in charge of the world, I would change the spelling of February to Feb-U-Wary. That makes more sense to me, at least.

Moving on...I just got home from a par-tay. It was fun and I met some fun people. Just to name a few, Michael "Cheater" Flight Attendant, and Bryan "Scar Face" I won't say your last name. Oh, and a JR, not to be confused with my already friend, RJ.

We played some games tonight, and in true Dana fashion, I walked away from the games I was losing, which happened to be all of them! Go me!

I am so tired. I had to get up at the buttcrack of dawn to go to the eye doctor this morning. I don't understand why they're doctor's anyway. It's not like they're performing surgery in order to give you glasses. AND, the receptionists were all wearing scrubs. Explain that one to me. Why do you need to wear scrubs when all you are doing is helping people pick out glasses? Am I the crazy one here??? Anyway, after that, I went to the gym, then came home and took a nap...but it wasn't nearly long enough. As I fell asleep in my comfy chair, a loud bang came on the door. It was some guy going door to door asking for canned goods. WTF!? So, Chris gave them some Chick Peas, Carrots, Canned Tomatoes, and Peas (i think). After that, I just couldn't go to sleep because I kept thinking that maybe the guy who was going door to door asking for canned goods could just be casing houses and he was planning on coming back later to rob me. Of course, I realize I'm crazy. So, you don't have to tell me.

Tomorrow I plan on sleeping in and then getting up and going shopping, my favorite thing to do. Wheee! BTW, there is exactly 3 months, 11 minutes and 35 seconds until my vacation. That's so hot.

I'm so out of here.

Feb 18, 2005

WooHoo for Friday!

Here comes a 3 day weekend! I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it! Ok, so that was cheesy. I don't really care. I just read an article about cheese.

Today was a really loooonnnggg day. By 8:30am, I was saying (outloud) "is it time to go home yet?"...and I was serious. I was also tired. Now, I'm not so tired. Maybe there's something in the air at work. I don't know.

Can I just say that people find a way, daily, to surprise me with their stupidity? I'm not going to go into detail...I'm just going to say that a lot of people do and say really stupid things sometimes...and it makes me wonder how they dress themselves in the morning. And, I'll also just say, I hate it when people don't have 'common sense'. It drives me up a wall. Now, I will stop talking about negative things.

The current countdown for the vacation is 3 months, 1 day, 6 hours, 22 minutes, and 27 seconds (at least that is the time as I type this right now.) I am now searching for a shuttle to take us from the Ft. Lauderdale airport, to Downtown Miami. If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know. Also, thanks to Jeff for the Trunk Bay suggestion. We definitely plan on going there. Beautiful! I found a great picture of it that I'm using as my desktop at work, actually.

I think tonight we may go out to eat. Tony's on Main Street, or Souper Salad! I can't decide. Tony's would be better, but Souper Salad would be healthier. It's such a hard decision. Then, after that, maybe we'll go see a movie. Who knows. I certainly do not. Chris's mom wants me to go shopping with her tonight..but I'm going to go on Monday, on my day off. Someone is currently calling my cell phone, but I'm too lazy to get up and answer it. Is that wrong? haha Anyway, tomorrow we're going to R & G's party. And again, I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it! I think it's going to be a blast. But of course, the party won't start until *I* get there! Just kidding.

So, that's it. Chris is home and I'm hungry. So, have a good weekend and remember to wipe from the front to the back.

Feb 15, 2005

7:57

So, last night we went to King Louie's. It was delicious! The atmosphere was totally romantic and warm. I definitely recommend this place, and usually I'm not big on frou-frou St. Louis restaurants, because I've found that they usually just charges outrageous prices for food I could make better at my own kitchen...however, King Louie's was not like this. The service was awesome, as was the food. I had the NY Strip and it was sooo yummy! Oh, and they have a very extensive wine list. I thought I'd just add that in!

Valentine's Day was a really good day for me. I feel like I have the sweetest husband alive. And yes, I realize you think that about your husband too, and that's ok.

We're going to a party this weekend and we're bringing shiraz and bruschetta. It's going to be a fun party and I can't wait! Woohoo! Also, I think I'm going to get new tires this weekend, and maybe new speakers for my car. Another Woohoo! Well, not really all that exciting..but I really need new tires, badly! Oh, AND we're both going to the eye doctor this weekend, so we'll both probably get new frames! I want to get some black, emo looking frames. But, who knows what I'll end up with.

I have Monday off. I am looking forward to not working. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, because Chris has to work. Ha HA HA HA double HA!

I don't remember if I already posted about this or not, but I booked some excursions to go on when we're on our cruise. In St. Thomas, we are going to a place called Coral World. I thought it looked pretty neat. Then, in St. Maarten, we're going on a catamaran snorkel cruise. If anyone has any suggestions of any where to go/do in St. Thomas/St. Maarten/St. Barth's, let me know. I'd like to know! So, so far, that's all we have planned. I don't have anything planned for San Juan yet, and I want to get more snorkeling in.

95 days to go until vacation! Woo.

That's about it. I have nothing else to say right now, because I have too much on my mind..and also, it's mainly work related and since I don't really want to talk about work much, I'll just keep it to myself. Let me just say this. If this dumbass guy I work with, walks over to my desk one more time, to tell me he just sent me an email, I'm going to throw my stapler at him.

Feb 14, 2005

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope everyone had a special Valentine of some sort. If you did, what did you get? Chris sent me roses, and when I got home, he gave me a pair of slippers, a box of Godiva chocolate, and a gift certificate to Spa Winghaven. Coincidentally, Chris's mom got one too, so we're going to go together! It should be fun. Now, we're getting ready to go to King Louies. I'm really excited about that and I'm really hungry.

Ok, must go now! I'll make sure and get some extra kisses from my Valentine for those of you who don't have one. :P

Weekend Update with Dana Dane

Friday was a big day. Besides vacation planning, we ate the best brisket that we have ever made. After dinner, we went to the mall. Chris, the little brat, got this. So, he's got his old notebook for sale here. It's in great shape and has been well taken care of. So if you're looking for a new ibook, bid now!

After that, we did some more shopping, then we went down to Main St. in St. Charles and hit a pub. It was cool. We ran into some friends of Chris's from work. After that, we came home and crashed. Saturday morning, I got up early and went walking with Chris's mom. After that, we met Chris as IHOP for breakfast. It was tasty, but there were smokers all around me, so after we left, I walked out smelling like a pack of Marlboro's. Ew. Anyway, after that, I went home and changed and then Carol and I went to the St. Louis Women's Show. We had a good time. Better than I thought it would be actually. We tasted a ton of wine & Bacardi and had some yummy food. Plus, we got a ton of free stuff from various vendors. We spent like 4 hours there, and made a trip to Luckytown! Wooo. It was a good time. After that, we went to the Galleria. I got a new outfit and a shirt, and a Valentine's Day gift for Chris. We didn't get out of the mall until around 7ish. We picked up John & Chris and went to Red Robin in the Valley. Then, we went to the new Galaxy and saw Sideways. I don't really like the new theatre. It's oddly cramped and the seats have a bad layout. Which surprised me, because it's such a new theatre. I still contend that the best theatre in STL is West Olive AMC. I thought the movie sucked though. I realize it's been getting good reviews and I think it even won some awards, but shit. I felt like I was being forced to watch someone lead a boring life. *shrug* Maybe it's just me.

By the time we got home, I was so exhausted I just wanted to go to bed. I had almost been up for 24 hours and I'd been walking all day. So I was pooped! Right now, I'm watching Garden State. After this is over, I need to go pick up a birthday gift for Chris's grandma. We're going out to dinner with her, Chris's sister and boyfriend, and Chris's parents. We're going to Baldo's tonight and I'm so excited! I've never been and I hear they have excellent food.

Chris finally told me where we're going for dinner tomorrow. King Louies. I've never been there either, but everyone has told me it's yummy! So, I'm excited about that too.

That's it from me right now. I think I'm going to pay attention to this movie, then get my butt in gear.

Wooo!

New shade!

I'm full of Super Smokers. Ugh.

I have nothing else to say. I just wanted to share my new shade.

Doot Doot Doot

Sheesh! I'm worn out. After the wild/crazy/fun weekend, I'm so not prepared for a week of work. I need a week of rest! Thankfully there's not a lot planned for the coming weekend, that I know of.

Anywho, we leave for vacation on May 20th, and I cannot wait! 101 days to go and counting! I know Chris can't wait either. He's been working so much, I almost forgot his name. :P

Tonight I went to Maryland Yards with Kara, but came home early because I forgot that I had drycleaning that I needed to pick up in a major way. I'm glad I left early though, because when I got in the car, it was sleeting/raining. So, I got some gas, picked up my dry cleaning, and came home.

Today at work, we celebrated Fat Tuesday with food & beads. It was wild...well, as wild as Corporate America can get during business hours! haha But, we had fun.

Do any of you loverboys & girls have Valentine's Day plans? Chris has something planned but he won't tell me what. That's okay though. So, tell me your plans, I'm interested to know what everyone else does.

Well, I guess that's about it. I took some Alieve because my hand is hurting really bad. Thankfully I'm going to the doctor tomorrow morning, so hopefully everything will be kosher after I figure out whats wrong with me. I'll post more about our fabulous vacation later.

Me before the parade

First drink of the morning picture with Carol.

Mardi Gras

Ewww...it smells like Bigfoot's dick.

hahaha I am watching Anchorman and someone just said that. It was funny.

I've been drinking since around 9am. This year, we were in the Mardi Gras parade. It was a blast! We were playing with Joia. After the parade, we walked around Soulard, and then eventually met up with one of Carol's friends. It was a good day of drinking, and doing not much else. I did see some boobies, but nothing I was impressed with. One girl had weird looking nipples. This year, we didn't end up leaving until around 6pm. Usually we leave around 2 or 3pm. I don't really want to leave at 6pm again next year. I want to leave at 2 or 3am again. People become more scary once it gets dark.

Now I have a headache. I should take some Alieve but I'm too lazy to get up. But my head really hurts so I will just have to get up anyway.

This post is amazingly random, and I realize that. I will have some Mardi Gras pictures to post later. Perhaps tomorrow. We're going to a Superbowl party tomorrow and I'm taking Rice Krispy Treats! Must get head pain reliever now.

eXpressive: 9/10
Practical: 3/10
Physical: 7/10
Giver: 8/10

You are a XSYG--Expressive Sentimental Physical Giver. This makes you a Sex Bomb.

You are sexy sex sex sex! The sexness! You are the sexiest, hottest and most charismatic of all types. You are a captivating speaker and a great dinner date -- relaxed, self-effacing, charming and generous. Your type probably has origins in something sad -- trying to keep the peace in a tough family situation, or an early heartbreak -- and you'll probably want to address and resolve that at some point, but in your relationships that heartache is pure gold!

You lie effortlessly -- not necessarily a bad thing. You can have problems with fidelity. You need frequent praise and validation, and in seeking it you can make decisions that aren't consistent with your general good judgment. In other words, don't cheat on your significant other just because someone is paying attention to you.

You strongly dislike conflict, and will avoid it. Like an XPYG, you give so much of yourself to your partner that you feel dismissed and unappreciated if you don't get the same in return. But you internalize your feelings more and have a hard time getting over them. You don't *want* to cheat -- you just keep finding yourself in vulnerable situations. But you'll stay with your partner in the long run from guilt and a desire to please.

Your sex life will always be hot. You are one of the rare people who can keep the fires of passion going forever -- if you find a good match. Find another XSYG and you will never need (or want) anyone else again.

Of the 188208 people who have taken this quiz, 8.1 % are this type.
