Weekend Update with Dana Dane
Friday was a big day. Besides vacation planning, we ate the best brisket that we have ever made. After dinner, we went to the mall. Chris, the little brat, got this. So, he's got his old notebook for sale here. It's in great shape and has been well taken care of. So if you're looking for a new ibook, bid now!
After that, we did some more shopping, then we went down to Main St. in St. Charles and hit a pub. It was cool. We ran into some friends of Chris's from work. After that, we came home and crashed. Saturday morning, I got up early and went walking with Chris's mom. After that, we met Chris as IHOP for breakfast. It was tasty, but there were smokers all around me, so after we left, I walked out smelling like a pack of Marlboro's. Ew. Anyway, after that, I went home and changed and then Carol and I went to the St. Louis Women's Show. We had a good time. Better than I thought it would be actually. We tasted a ton of wine & Bacardi and had some yummy food. Plus, we got a ton of free stuff from various vendors. We spent like 4 hours there, and made a trip to Luckytown! Wooo. It was a good time. After that, we went to the Galleria. I got a new outfit and a shirt, and a Valentine's Day gift for Chris. We didn't get out of the mall until around 7ish. We picked up John & Chris and went to Red Robin in the Valley. Then, we went to the new Galaxy and saw Sideways. I don't really like the new theatre. It's oddly cramped and the seats have a bad layout. Which surprised me, because it's such a new theatre. I still contend that the best theatre in STL is West Olive AMC. I thought the movie sucked though. I realize it's been getting good reviews and I think it even won some awards, but shit. I felt like I was being forced to watch someone lead a boring life. *shrug* Maybe it's just me.
By the time we got home, I was so exhausted I just wanted to go to bed. I had almost been up for 24 hours and I'd been walking all day. So I was pooped! Right now, I'm watching Garden State. After this is over, I need to go pick up a birthday gift for Chris's grandma. We're going out to dinner with her, Chris's sister and boyfriend, and Chris's parents. We're going to Baldo's tonight and I'm so excited! I've never been and I hear they have excellent food.
Chris finally told me where we're going for dinner tomorrow. King Louies. I've never been there either, but everyone has told me it's yummy! So, I'm excited about that too.
That's it from me right now. I think I'm going to pay attention to this movie, then get my butt in gear.

As far as "Sideways" is concerned, we enjoyed it, but well-known and
highly regarded New York Times critic Frank Rich ran an article in the wake of the overwhelmingly glowing reviews, contending it was probably one of the most overrated movies to come along in years. I thought Virginia Madsen and Sandra Oh were great. And I agree you about the theatres. Wehrenberg's new place in the valley has strange design flaws, and it's got institutional decorating. West Olive when it's not swarming with people is just right.
As far as King Louies is concerned, we stopped going there some time ago after they dropped their bar menu and went ultra upscale. It got pricey and pretentious, but it's still a favorite, and has carved out its niche as a special occasion place you'd consider patronizing again.
Once I got sea bass there that came out looking like some sort of praying mantis.
So what's this brisket recipe? Would you please post it, or better yet, put it in the carnival next week?
