WHAT THE FUCK.
So, I was just watching the news, and I saw a little story on the State of the State address with Missouri's new gov. Matt Blunt. WHAT THE FUCK is the first thing that came to mind. $14 million cut from mental health, $626 million cut from Medicaid???? I realize that not everyone thinks the same things are important. However, with that said, I will say that those 2 things ARE important, and it blows my mind that he wants to cut that much from those 2 things. I know that some of you who read my blog don't share in my political views. That's ok. I still like you, but you may not want to continue reading the rest of this post, cause I'm about to get nasty.
What in the hell is the deal with elected Republican officials? And, who in the hell elects these people? I just don't understand it. Why would you cut that much money from healthcare? And, why would you want to privitize the Dept. of Revenue? It makes me ill. Personally, I have family who use both mental health state benefits and Medicaid. They have no other choice. Why is it okay to cut this when it is going to effect so many people who have NO OTHER CHOICE. I think we all forget about that sometimes. Not everyone is as fortunate as those of us with jobs, and a fat savings account. I just don't understand it. Plain and simple. I noticed that none of the Democrat's clapped during the speech, while all the Republican's stood and applauded. HOW CAN YOU APPLAUD? Besides that, the short little fuck with the snowbunny wife can't even say Missouri right. He thinks we live in a state called M I S S O U R A H.
Anyway, I'll just say it now. If you want to post a comment, that's fine. But that's just how I feel. So, with that, I'm going to try and calm down and go to bed.

I can only enter my strongest concurrence with what you posted tonight, Dana. You know the saying about how a society is judged? The one that says you measure a society by the way it treats and takes care of its least able and most needy? There will be fallout to this abomination. Republican = MEAN. Democrat = Compassionate. "Compassionate Conservative" = oxymoron.
And that recurrent horseshit about how to pronounce the name of our eminently progressive state: It's all about the outstaters. Look at the county by county returns from the gubernatorial election. It's all there.
You don't call residents of this state Muh-zoor-UH-ans.
And the reason is because the state is Ma-zoo-REE and and we're Missourians.
And if Blunt and his polar bear-attired wife have their way, by the time his term is served out, this state, like the rest of the country, will be a theocracy.
Your post hit a bullseye, Dana--you are an astute observer of these unfortunate current events.
Mandate? There is no MANDATE. People in the media need to realize that 50% to 49% is NOT a FU**ING Mandate! It's called you barely won, you basically almost tied and kissed your F***ing sister! Fuc***' morons. Like how I used the word F**K? :)
In anycase, I do like this RSS feed, otherwise I may have never read about Matt Blount's cutting the budget like this. Thanks for keeping at least ME up to date on this. btw --- I did NOT -- did NOT vote for Matt Blount.
I voted for Blunt and I'll entertain a debate as long as there are no attacks. Attack and you can sit here and hate all you want by yourselves. That might be asking a little much since the original post and two responses contain a high percent of venom. However, in the spirit of fun I'll try.
First, the medicade cuts surprised me. The state has been bleeding money for the past few years (who hasn't) and a line of spending cuts would be in order. You or I can question where the cuts take place, but the do need to happen or taxes need to be raise, no?
Second, there are two basic schools of thought in politics- help people or help people help themselves. I prefer the later, but that's just my personal opinion.
Third, we have many different accents in this state. A coworker from Cape constantly reminds me of this. There are some days he sounds like a person from another country. We also have our own horrible way of butchering the English language. Exhibit A- highway farty far. People in the southwest part like to use the phrase Missourah and it really embarrasses me when that is done on a national stage. Folks can we please learn to pronounce our state name in a way that doesn't make us look like hillbillies?
Fourth, where did mandate come from? I didn't watch the address last night and have gleamed my info from the P-D and other places.
And finally, where did the mention of a theocracy come from? Help me out here. I won't argue about issues I don't understand.
Hey asten. Next time you whine about people being uber-partisan, you ought to take a good look in the mirror first:
Here's some recent highlights from www.asinine.org/blog
>> To my relief, the 'bloodbath' and low turnout that the liberal media had all but guaranteed just didn't happen.
>>If you believed the anti-bush wackos...
Seriously. It looks like you plagiarized that whole post from Fox News. If you're allowed to whine about how much you hate Christians and liberals, STFU when someone else complains about brain-dead republicans.
The above post wasnt meant to be anonymous, but I dont have a blogger ID.

Goodness! You are right about taking care of "the least of these" in our society. But why get so upset about those of us who call our state Mis-sur-uh. My county is in western Missouri, two counties south of Kansas City. I do not believe most of us are "hill billies", if you mean that as a disparaging word....most people here descend from Virginians and North Carolinians who moved here in the early 1800's and, yes, a good percentage of us have college educations and we do read quite a bit, both newspapers and news magazines and blogs...... Matt Blunt surely deceived the people of this state when he did not mention the health care cuts he planned as he campaigned around the state......and Claire McCaskell would certainly not have rushed to take the health care away from the elderly and ill in our midst. In addition to hurting people. this Republican plan surely will end up with a terrible economic impact, including lost jobs in health care professions.... Personally, I'd like to see Blunt and a bunch of the other Republicans (and yes, a good many are mean-spirited,) booted out of office as soon as possible. Why don't they cut their tax-supported Legislative health care plans, too?...and increase some taxes..I'm a long-time smoker and 77 years old and certainly wouldn't object to a tax on cigarettes and liquor. Dream on, however, our legislators wouldn't do anything to offend the Busch brewing empire ... Meanwhile, come see us in west-central Miss-zurr-uh...you'll find this old girl at her desk at Clinton's daily newspaper every morning at 9.

I would just like to say that I don't agree with a few things that Matt Blunt is doing right now, but you can't change things by just throwing around nasty language on here and bashing republicans all the time. I'm a Hillcrest High School Senior in Springfield MO. And I'm doing my lib and law project on Matt Blunt. I'm also a republican. Not ALL Republicans agree with what he is doing Dana. Not all of us are to the extreme right wing. I agree that he shouldn't of decided to cut medicaid, because so many people depend on that. It wasn't a smart move for him. If you don't agree with the things that he wants to do, then you should let your voice be heard, I know I will. But try to let it be heard in a mature way, rather than dropping the "F bomb" every 2 seconds. I'm sorry but people who cuss like that just seem like they arn't very intellegent because they can't find any other vocabulary word to use in the English language. I'm not trying to insult you. I hope you achieve what you'r trying to achieve. Good Luck. God Bless.
