Cyrano's - A Review

Hi all! I'm back! Just a few housekeeping notes and then I'll get on with the review. Many of you know that I moved my blog to myspace, however I decided to keep my reviews here. When my dining out group goes out to dinner, I'll post a review. It's been a while, I know. Here goes!

Cyrano's

I'm sure if you're a St. Louis native, you've been to Cyrano's at least once in your life. Probably way back in the day, or maybe just yesterday. Cyrano's is best known for its romantic atmosphere and delicious, oh so delectable desserts. Last night, my dining group (which has grown to 17 regular members now) picked Cyrano's for our January restaurant. I have to admit, I had serious concerns regarding the seating, you know, since there were 17 of us. When we arrived, we all congregated around the very small bar. Though small, service was top notch. The lone bartender not only poured drinks for those sitting at the bar, he was in charge of drinks for the entire dining room. Kudos to him for keeping up! He was also nice enough to transfer each of our bar tabs to our dinner tabs. (Tabs always being an issue with 17 people) For seating, I was quite surprised as we were at 2 different tables, though we were right next to each other so it wasn't an issue. Service was great. Considering there were 17 demanding, snob-like foodies in front of him, Chris was fantastic. On to the food.

Since we all wanted the dessert, we went a little light on the dinner. My tapas salad was delicious, though it could have used a tad bit more dressing. The lettuce was crisp and cold and the veggies were perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better salad. John had the hummus plate and that was equally as good. The tomato bisque was so flavorful; I almost thought I was eating a pasta sauce. Delicious! Now, usually when we go out, I like to try bold dishes. This time, I settled on the Turkey Club. The mayo on this turkey club was to die for. Absolutely delicious! I would definitely suggest trying it, the next time you are there. Overall, the whole group was totally pleased with their choices.

Next we moved on to the good stuff. Dessert! The only problem we encountered all night was the fact that they did run out of Apple Pot Pie. Not a huge deal though, as we found other alternatives. We tasted the Triple Layer Cake, Cleopatra, Pecan Pie, Bread Pudding, and Cinnamon Ice Cream. My absolute favorite was the bread pudding. So rich and flavorful. Delicious! The next is the Cinnamon Ice Cream. I have to admit, I'm not such a huge fan of their Vanilla Bean ice cream. I love the bananas, strawberries, and chocolate with whipped cream of the Cleopatra, but not the Vanilla ice cream. I would suggest ordering an alternative flavor with it. Over all, dessert was a huge hit. I'm pretty sure out of our entire group; we ordered everything off of the dessert menu. We were all stuffed when we left.

If you've never been there, go check them out. They're located in Webster Groves, on Lockwood. If you have been there, but it's been a long time, go check them out again! Also, since everything was so fantastic last night, I want to encourage you all to visit their sister restaurants: MoMo's, BARcelona, & Bugaloo. Go ahead, check em' out!
