Weekend Wrap Up, Less Bitchiness

Some of you may think this is the end of the weekend. Some of you would be wrong though. I have tomorrow off for MLK Day. Can I get a "woo-hoo?" Not a lot of "woo-hoo" though, even though I am off, I still have to get up early because I have a doctor's appointment very early. So, not so much excitement about getting up early on my day off.

This weekend was nice! On Friday, our intentions were to get crab. We did not get crab, because the restaurants with crab were mobbed. So, we ended up getting Chinese. While we were at the Chinese place, I realized that I only had chicken items on my plate. I just thought that was a little odd. While we were eating, we heard this bellowing voice behind us, and looked over to see a gorilla looking person who presented himself as a man. He was standing up and yell-talking to people sitting around him, that I assume he knew. The experience was weird. People sitting around us were weird. The host at the restaurant was cute, like a little miniature person, except he wasn't miniature. I can't really explain it, so I'll move on.

Saturday, I got up and did some things around the house, then we went out and bought some new book shelves and various other stuff. We stopped for lunch at Olive Garden, then went over to Chris's mom's house. By the time we got home, it was time for us to get ready to go out for the evening. First, we headed down to Laclede's Landing to the Royal Dumpe, where we hooked up with a group of about 16. It was fun, but I don't really think I'd like to go there again. I couldn't really get into the whole Renaissance type mood and the food was not good at all. I might add that being a foodie really sucks, because you stop enjoying the mediocre things (food) in life, and start hating them. Anyway, the only good thing the Dumpe has going for it is the boobies on the wenches and the bottomless beer they offer for $12.95. Chris was tanked and I was not, because obviously someone had to drive. Anyway, after the show, everyone wanted to head to the casino, but we did not. Instead, we headed to the Royale to meet up with Chris's mom/dad/cousin/her husband to see his aunt/uncle spin some tunes. I'd never been to the Royale, but I really liked it. Their drink menu is eclectic. The sub continental drink was yummy! Especially if you dig cucumbers. While we were there, I ran into a friend who I really didn't expect to see. We chatted for a while, then I saw someone else I knew. How odd is it that I'm not even from St. Louis, but it never fails, 4 out of 5 places I go, I run into someone I know. Anyway, we closed down the bar, then we all headed over to this little hole in the wall place that stays open till 3, called Sandrina's or something to that effect. We had a good time Saturday night and didn't go to bed until 4. That leads us to today. This morning we got up and went to brunch at this new Greek place with the same crew from last night. Then we came home, I started reading "Freakonomics" and then fell asleep. Ah, sweet weekend.

Chris's sister asked me to make the groom's cake for her wedding on October. For some odd reason, his whole family thinke the carrot cake I make is famous. I might add that I've made so many carrot cakes that I have a seasoned hatred toward the stuff. Anyway, I will make the carrot cake regardless. I'm excited though, because 1. I love baking and 2. I love decorating. I think I'm going to do fondant with cornelli lace, but I'm not 100% sure yet. I've still got a while to figure the design out.

This week I'm going to drop my precious art by Slava Brodinsky off to be framed. I'm excited, yet nervous. If my painting gets damaged, I'm going to inflict copious amounts of damage to the store that is responsible for the damage. I have faith though, that everything will be kopasetic though. Cross your fingers!
