Tornados In January?
What the hell is going on here? I was a little surprised to be flipping through the channels last night and see a weather alert on channel 5 for a tornado. At first, part of me wondered if it was something from the past that was pre-recorded or something. Then, I heard the sirens. I've said this before, and I'll say it again, the sirens are really loud when they're located literally, right outside your window. Also, I beg the question of why does the tornado siren have to sound like a bomb siren. Don't you think it would be more effective if a recording came on saying TORNADO WARNING! TORNADO WARNING! At least that way, it would prevent me from jumping out of bed and freaking out because I'm half asleep and don't know what the hell is going on. And really, what is up with tornados in freaking January?!? Thank you global warming.
I'm not going to talk about New Years or even what I did or didn't do in 2005. I think resolutions are cheesy. So, whatever man.
Yesterday we went to Chris's family's annual New Years Day brunch, where I promptly fell asleep after I ate. Then, I came home and went to sleep again, until about 5. Then we headed over to the 'rents house to meet up with his sister and her fiancee and cousin and her husband. We ate and played games. Trivial Pursuit, in which I gave the final answer that pushed my team to victory. Of course, my team consisted of me and Chris. Thank goodness for the Mario Batalli answer. Thank goodness I'm a restaurant connoisseur. After we won that game, we broke into boys against girls and played Shout About TV. Girls won. Booyah. Boys suck. So, I was twice a winner last night. Go me.
Because of the silly sirens last night, I am still currently in my pj's and lying in bed. I really need to get up and start taking down the Christmas tree, but I just cant bring myself to get out of bed. It's so warm here. I just don't see the sense in disturbing the warmness.
Well, my mom has been visiting me since the Friday before Christmas. My sister took her home yesterday morning. I will say that I had a good visit with her, but I will also say that I was kinda glad when she went home. I was starting to feel smothered and annoyed. I guess that tends to happen though. Either way, it's nice to have only me and Chris in the house again.
January looks like it's shaping up to be a pretty busy month, weekend wise. We've got tickets to see Blast! and we're also going to the Royal Dumpe with some of our friends. I've never been there before and while I realize it's probably not gourmet, it should be fun. I'd also like to get to Busche's Grove sometime this month. I think I'm more interested in the decor than the food right now. I have heard from a pretty reliable source though, that the food is great. We'll see.
Well, it's starting to rain again, and I'm starting to feel sleepy again, so I think I may just go back to sleep. It's not like I have anything BETTER to do.
