Cigarettes.
You know, I really hate cigarettes. And, I'm really starting to hate certain smokers. You know who you are. I grew up with 2 parents who were smokers. Actually, most all of my family are smokers, save 1 uncle and my sister. And, even when I met Chris, he smoked. AND, at one time, I smoked too. After Chris stopped smoking, I started to realize how offensive the smell is. It's not even the smell that gets me the most. It's the big billowing cloud of smoke that comes out of your filthy mouth with each puff you take. I totally respect your right to smoke, if you respect my right not to smoke. Restaurants, for example. I don't want to smoke your cigarette while I'm eating my dinner. It's just nasty. And, why do you have to throw your cigarette butts out the window after you get done smoking? You're okay with filling your lungs with smoke, but you're not okay with putting your butt in your ash tray??? That just doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, I don't mean to bitch..but I was thinking about the cigarette ban that STL County is thinking about implementing and it sorta made me think to post a cigarette rant. I think a smoking ban is a good thing. Hey, if you want to smoke, that's cool with me. But, I think if I don't want to smoke, I shouldn't have to, especially out in public. And don't get me wrong, I hang out with smokers, and I go to bars, etc etc. I'm not going to tell you to put your cigarette out..I just wish some of you would be more considerate to non-smokers. Okay, that's all I got on this too.

When did we all get so damn fragile? I'm only 37, but I can remember working at a desk across from a smoker. Yeah, it sucked by today's standards, but I didn't think anything about it at the time.
Then we pushed the smokers to their own smoking room.
Then we pushed them out of the building.
AND THEN that wasn't good enough. People were complaining that they had to smell smoke as they walked in and out of the building. So we pushed the smoking area to obscure places.
And now we are just going to legislate smoking out of existance.
1. When smoking is gone, whereya gonna make up that phat tax revenue? Whose ox gets gored next? Anheuser-Busch? That shit has already started.
2. Do you REALLY believe that Health Care companies are going to reduce their premiums when smoking-related deaths cease? Really?
3. The people who are most fragile about second-hand smoke are generally the same people who have no problem keeping a microwave transmitter pressed up against their skull 10 hours per day.
4. IT IS NOT THE JOB OF GOVERNMENT to protect people from their own stupidity!!!!
When you are required to wear a helmet while driving your car, you are going to ask how things got so out-of-control. Look inward, intollerant masses.
(and btw, I've never smoked, nor has anyone in my family.)
I'm not a smoker...nor do I go to church...but thought this was funny...

True true true. No argument. Smoking is an illogical act, and second hand smoke contributes to health problems in non-smokers.
But...
See, when you forget your deoderant, and I have to smell your body odor, I don't say a word because intollerance doesn't beget understanding, or make a better world to live in.
See, when your SUV belches out carcinogens when we are stuck in traffic giving me leukemia and lymphoma, I don't say anything because intollerance doesn't beget understanding, or make a better world to live in.
See, when you sit next to me on the plane and break out your home-made Indian-food dinner with foreign smells that make me want to wretch, I don't say anything because intollerance doesn't beget understanding or make a better world to live in.
See, when you decide that 600 channels are not enough, and you subscribe to yet another Satellite TV service that will bombard me with electro-magnetic waves 24/7, even though I don't own a TV, I don't say anything because intollerance doesn't beget understanding or make a better world to live in.
See, when you turn on your air conditioner and disolve the ozone that protects me from melanoma, I don't say anything because intollerance doesn't beget understanding or make a better world to live in.
But smokers? Fuck 'em. Kill them all and let God sort them out!
We choose our intollerances. You are absolutely BESET with health concerns by the nature of being a human being on an industrialized planet.
There are legitimate reasons to eschew smoking and smokers. Absolutely. But 90% of militant anti-smokers are just intollerant a-holes who feel the self-superior right to tell a straw-man minority how to live their lives.
And smokers... STOP THROWING YOUR BUTTS OUT THE CAR WINDOWS, YOU INCONSIDERATE TWITS!
