A Weekend In October
Well, first and most important, Go Cards. Yes, they lost last night, but don't count them out. They'll be back.
Now, back to my weekend. It was a pretty good weekend. Friday night, we went out searching for NLCS shirts. I wanted a long sleeved one but nobody had them. So it was a bust. So, I don't remember what we did after that...but whatever it was, it was ok. Saturday morning, I got up and baked cookies ALL DAY. Really. I baked cookies until 4pm and only stopped because I had to get ready for "Trivia Night". Ah, Trivia Night. The biggest waste of my time in a long time. Beckie, RJ, Steve and Chris & I decided to please Carol and go to this fundraiser 'Trivia Night" for the Rescued Racer organization. Well, first let me just say that I did see a flier prior to agreeing to go. The flier stated the 'event' would be hosted by Vic & Trish from 101.1 The River. Tickets were $12.00 and there would be door prizes, trivia, and Fortel's Pizza. So, we get there. Now, I don't know why..but for some reason, I had a picture in my head of what it was going to be like. I pictured a bar scene, with TV's to watch the game, drinks and a pizza type bar. Along with NTN trivia. WRONG. We get there and immediately notice, NO TV. Well, I take that back. Someone had brought a tiny little b&w tv. And there was no pizza bar. There was an order form on the table to buy pizza for $12.00 a pizza. WAIT. BACK UP. The flier said you pay $12 and pizza is included. And we had already paid our $12...so wtf, chuck? Anyway, there was no NTN trivia. There was Vic & Trish reading questions off, that we had to write down the answer to (per table). The crazy thing about it was that every round, there was at least 1 question that they didn't have the right answer to. Oh man it sucked. SUCKED. OH. And, did I mention that we were the youngest people there? The people there were 55+ years old. We so wanted to leave...right away..and find the nearest bar and watch the game. But we couldn't..because we promised Carol we'd stick it out. Shit it was horrible. Finally, we got out of there but only to catch the last 2 innings of the game. Thankfully whoever brought that little tv turned it toward our table..so we could squint and see the score and stuff. So, that was pretty much a big bust. The whole lesson of this story is this. If someone invites you to a fundraiser on the night of the first game of the World Series...first ask if there will be a TV there that's bigger than 19" and does it have cable. Then...if they tell you trivia is involved...make sure you ask if it's NTN. OH, and BTW...Trish from 101.1 The River...isn't so cute. In fact, she looks like she's been rode hard, and put away wet. And yes, I know that's mean, but I can't help it. It's the truth.
So, that brings us to today. I woke up this morning and started baking cookies again. I finished about 20 minutes ago. Those of you who are so lucky to get cookies...expect them this week. They will be sent out tomorrow. Those of you who aren't get cookies, too bad so sad. HA! Just kidding. I also boxed up 2 gift tins of cookies, so I'm kind of excited about that too. I'm anxious to see how they like them. Oh, and I have a ton of cookies to take to my new co-workers. Not that they could love me any more than they already do, but hey...every little bit helps!
Now I'm watching Bridget Jones Diary to refresh my memory on the movie. I can't wait until the second one comes out next month. I was going to watch the first season of Sex and the City but stupid Blockbust sent me the second season, instead of the first. So, I will just keep the second one until they send me the first one. HA. That's about it for today. Later I need to venture out and find some ribbon....That is, if I don't fall asleep watching this movie first.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Anyone have any big plans for Halloween? I don't.
